Records For Humanity

As part of our community commitment, Blood regularly collaborates with partners to ensure that as a company we are helping, wherever possible, to create a better society. We feel that businesses should not be faceless enterprises and instead should aid societal growth whenever possible. Below are just some of the projects that we've worked on to achieve this goal since our inception in 2018...

Songs For The National Health Service

As COVID-19 gripped the UK it was heart-breaking to see the stress that our National Health Service was subjected to. Blood partnered with a group of people within the industry to produce ‘Songs For The National Health Service’ a compilation LP featuring artists such as Wolf Alice, Foals, Alfie Templeman, The Vaccines, The Wombats and more. The record funded vital PAPR ventilators in seven UK hospitals allowing life-saving surgery to be safely restarted.

Close-Up: What's Going On?

The pandemic has of course been brutal for the live music industry. Not only is this part of the business a huge employer but it’s a vital resource for up-coming artists. In a collaboration with London promoters ‘Close-Up’ we launched ‘Whats’ Going On?’, a compilation LP that featured exclusive tracks from the likes of Peace, Sad Boys Club, Gengahr, Little Commets and more. Proceeds from the record were added to the Music Venue Trust’s ‘Save Our Venues’ fund. The MVT has been massively instrumental in both lobbying the government for financial support and directly working with venue owners to keep them afloat.

Girls Against

Girls Against are a collective of young women who self-organised to create a charity with the aim of stopping sexual assault at gigs. Venues should be a safe and encompassing space for everyone and it became clear that this was not the case. We partnered with Girls Against in 2018 to release a compilation LP that would fund lectures being given at Universities across the UK on both sexual assault and consent. The splatter-effect record featured the likes of Deap Vally, Dream Wife, Hinds and came with a pullout booklet filled with quotes from the artists involved.

Dream Wife: Tour Support Reimagined

London three-piece Dream Wife made the decision to select the tour supports for their 2019 UK tour from open-submission. Guitarist Alice Go recorded parts of the sets of each of the bands and mixed them into what became ‘Tour Support Reimagined’, an LP with donations going to Girls Rock London; a charity which gives womxn the opportunity to learn to play instruments and form bands.

Nova Twins: Voices For The Unheard

In collaboration with our friends Nova Twins and Dr Martens the 2021 release of 'Voices For The Unheard' was an exclusive Blood Records compilation that showcased a range of emerging BAME artists. The record raised a total of £7,456 which is being used to help fund education resources from The Black Curriculum; a charity whose work with schools teaches both student and teachers about black history.

This Feeling: Big In 2021

In another effort to add funds to the Music Venue Trust's 'Save Our Venues' campaign, which aided grassroots venues acrosss the UK during forced-closures as a result of the pandemic, we partnered with cult-indie promoters This Feeling to showcase their list of 'Big In 2021' artists. Over £3,000 was added to the fund as a result of this release.
